Big Updates! RECS Camas and Corvallis coming this fall.

Announcement

When we signed our Clackamas lease in late 2021, one of the first things that I did was ask my nephew to write our Mission StatementCore Values, and Player’s Pledge on the door to the arena in the lounge. It’s still there.

Our goal was always to prove the concept, then open more clubs. This year, we’ll open two more in the region, bringing us to four. Our North Star remains unchanged.

New Locations

Corvallis – Weve wanted to open a RECS location in the valley for quite some time, and are thrilled to be joining the Corvallis community. The ownership group of Corvallis Sports Park, including GM Blake Leamy, chose us over other suitors because of our commitment to honor the legacy of Corvallis Sports Park as a “3rd Place” for people to recreate, exercise, compete, and socialize. The club will have seven dedicated indoor pickleball courts. We plan to open in October of this year.

Camas – Evergreen Tennis owners Caryn and Clark Vitek spent over a decade building a passionate tennis community. We’re honored to continue that tradition through racquet sports, with nine dedicated pickleball courts. (We are also planning to introduce a new racquet sport taking off called “typti.” It’s more like tennis than pickleball, but played on a pickleball court). We are shooting for a soft launch before the end of August.

Both new clubs mean more jobs, more members, and more “analog connectivity” – the joyful experience of playing addictive games and sports with friends and family.

Clackamas Updates

As we grow, it’s been important to me that our original club keeps pace. We’re nearing the end of our first lease term, which presented a great opportunity to make some needed upgrades.

  • Parking: We removed “boulder island” to add four more spots.
  • Outdoor hospitality area: We added a new gathering space adjacent to the south parking strip, with picnic tables. Covering, lights, and heat will also be added!
  • Building upgrades: Roof, heating and lighting improvements will be made in August to enhance the year-round playing experience.

Tualatin Updates

  • Premier membership is now available at Tualatin
  • Premier members at Clackamas (and new RECS locations) can now use their new network membership perks at Tualatin
  • Reminder: Tualatin has air conditioning!

Membership Update

Opening two new clubs gave us the opportunity to standardize and improve our membership offerings. Here’s what’s new:

All RECS clubs will offer PremierPremier Access, and Visitor. Some clubs may offer additional options unique to that club.

Both Premier and Premier Access are now network membershipsThis means members at any RECS location get membership benefits at all other locations. For both tiers, the first two plays each month at your primary club (court reservation or group play) are included.

Thank You!

Lastly, I want to thank our community – and that’s everyone –  our amazing and loyal members, the world’s best collection of pickleball Instructors, and our incredible staff and leadership team – together we have built something very special. To be able to expand to new towns to share the joy and community that we’re creating together is a testament to the care and commitment from all of us.  And for that, please let me thank all of you, and share how much I appreciate you.

We’ve come a long way, yet we’ve only just begun.

Sincerely,

Kevin Richards
