Riley’s 1st and Most Important Blog Post!

Hey, it’s me. Riley. You may have seen me working at the front desk or being an instructor to RECS members on the court. Maybe you’ve never seen or heard of me before, in that case allow me to introduce myself. I hail from the Cascade Mountains, Redmond, Oregon. I am an avid Pickleball player and was a collegiate tennis player in a past life. I received my education from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

I’ve been an instructor at RECS for about 2 years. My favorite part about working here are the amazing people I work with – both the employees and the members I instruct. I always say that RECS is a place where you come to play Pickleball but stay for the people and community! RECS was my first stop on my job search when I moved to Portland. Within a few days, I had received an offer and the rest was history! I am grateful for all of the amazing connections RECS has brought me on and off the court.

This is my first blog post. This is my most important blog post. I come posting good news. I recently received my Master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology. I don’t tell you this to gloat, I tell you this because I can help you! I can create personalized interventions for each of my clients to help them perform their best on the court. My philosophy is rooted in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), with mindfulness strategies sprinkled in for flavor.

Are you struggling with the yips? Do you have performance anxiety? Would you like to be generally more clear while on the court? I can help you with those things and so much more.

My consulting style is conversational and rooted in motivational interviewing techniques. I operate as a chill human, that is translated into my counselling style. At the end of the day, my consulting style is focused on YOU.

At the most basic level, I am someone to talk to about your experience as an athlete. However, I want my clients to leave each session with a new perspective, having felt like they learned more about themselves and/or ways to improve their mentality on court.

RECS members can speak with me about my services whenever they see me in the building. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions!

Winning starts within.
